Resolving Intel Wireless AC 9560 Issues on Windows

The Intel Wireless AC 9560 adapter is a popular networking component found in many Windows laptops. However, we sometimes encounter frustrating issues where the AC 9560 is not working properly on Windows 11. There are several potential fixes we can try to get the Intel adapter back up and running.

Power Cycle the Laptop

One of the simplest initial troubleshooting steps is to power cycle the laptop. Shut down the system completely, unplug the power cable, then press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to discharge residual power. Reconnect the cable and restart the system to see if the adapter begins working properly.

Re-enable the Adapter

If power cycling does not work, we can try re-enabling the actual AC 9560 adapter. Press Windows Key + X to open the WinX menu and select Device Manager. Expand the Network Adapters section, right-click on Intel(R) Wireless AC 9560 and select Enable device. This reactivates the adapter if it has become accidentally disabled.

Check WLAN AutoConfig Service

The WLAN AutoConfig service controls the network adapter’s functionality. We should verify this service is enabled and running correctly. Type "services.msc" in the Start menu to open the Services console. Locate WLAN AutoConfig, confirm its Startup Type is Automatic, and its Status is Running. If not, set the Startup Type accordingly and click Start.

Examine Power Management

Sometimes power management settings can inadvertently turn off the WiFi adapter and disrupt connectivity. We should double check these settings to ensure the adapter remains active. Go to Device Manager, find Network Adapters, right-click Intel(R) Wireless AC 9560, select Properties, then Power Management. Make sure "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is unchecked.

Reset Network Components

If the AC 9560 still will not work, we can try resetting various network components. First, open an elevated Command Prompt and run "netsh winsock reset" to reset the WinSock catalog. Next, run "ipconfig /flushdns" to flush the DNS resolver cache. Finally, go to Windows Settings > Network & Internet > Status and click Network Reset. This will reconfigure network components system-wide.

Run Network Troubleshooter

For additional troubleshooting, we can leverage Windows’ built-in network diagnostics tool. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot. Under Find and Fix Other Problems, run the Internet Connections troubleshooter. This will analyze network components and attempt to identify any issues with the AC 9560 adapter.

Update or Reinstall Drivers

Outdated, buggy, or corrupted drivers can certainly cause AC 9560 problems. We should update to the latest driver from the Intel Download Center. If updating does not help, we can uninstall the existing driver and reinstall it clean. Driver Easy is a handy utility that can automatically fetch and deploy the correct AC 9560 driver.

Restart the Adapter

As a last resort, we can restart the AC 9560 adapter itself to revive it. Go back into Device Manager, right-click the adapter, and select Disable device. Then right-click it again and select Enable device. This essentially power cycles just the adapter rather than the whole system.

When to Seek Further Support

If we have diligently tried all of the above troubleshooting tips to no avail, it’s time to seek additional help. Contacting the laptop manufacturer or Intel support directly would be the next logical step. They can provide more specific diagnostic and repair procedures for the AC 9560 component. With their assistance, we can hopefully get the adapter functioning optimally again on Windows.

We hope these troubleshooting techniques help resolve any Intel Wireless AC 9560 problems you may encounter on Windows 11 or other versions. Some other networking topics our readers may find useful:
